Creating Considerate Reminder Signs
As 2024 draws to a close, let’s review the completion of BNDS.SJS’s 2024 "Ten Practical Initiatives"!
Wisdom Valley Zoo is situated at the southeast corner of the school playground. During preliminary planning, the school conducted surveys to identify student-preferred animal species. Through comprehensive research, sika deer emerged as the overwhelming majority choice for the zoo's inaugural residents. After multiple design refinements and consultations, the zoo construction was completed during summer vacation.
At the September 1st autumn commencement ceremony, two student-named fawns "Youyou" and "Mingming" made their grand debut, eliciting enthusiastic cheers from the entire school community. Additionally, two peacocks and four pairs of rabbits joined the zoo, becoming cherished companions in students' academic lives.
To ensure optimal animal welfare, biology faculty organized students in implementing "Compassionate Reminder Signage Design" and "Winter Care Initiative for Animals".
Ensuring Warm Winter Protection for Animals
Through daily interactions with the animals, students cultivate compassion, patience, and profound responsibility, mastering harmonious coexistence with nature. The valley zoo has evolved into a living classroom fostering interdisciplinary learning and academic competency development.
Establishing Wisdom Valley Integrity Store
In response to recurrent incidents of students forgetting stationery on campus, a student-initiated proposal led to the creation of an integrity-based store in the valley, equipped with direct card payment capabilities to fulfill academic necessities. Through faculty-student voting, the store was officially named "Shiguang Villa".
Constructing a Well-Lit Sports Field & Enhancing Court Lighting Completed
In the 2024 "Ten Practical Initiatives" survey, many students reported that the school’s sports field lacked adequate lighting, making it impossible to play soccer or frisbee after dark. To provide better outdoor lighting and enhance students’ recreational activities, the school redesigned the field’s illumination system, adding four new bright lamps to the previously dimly lit area. This upgrade to the campus lighting is not just an improvement in facilities but also a vivid reflection of the school’s sports culture. It gives students more opportunities to release energy and express themselves beyond academic studies, allowing the passion and excitement of sports to thrive on campus even at night.
School Plaque Unveiling
The mock court activity is not only an engaging lesson in legal education but also a profound demonstration of the spirit of the law. Let us look forward to a future where everyone can become a guardian of justice, working together to build a harmonious, stable, and law-abiding society.

"Shiguang Villa" operates as a fully student-managed store where the management team meticulously prepares a variety of goods to meet the daily needs of teachers and students. It also functions as an honor-based store, allowing students to independently select products, operate card machines, and complete payment transactions through self-checkout. During the preparation of this integrity-driven supermarket, Zhao Zihan’s team (members: Zhao Zihan, Zhu Aoyang, Chen Yufei, Li Peiyao, Wang Luojia) emerged victorious after intense competition, securing the one-year operating rights for Shiguang Villa. Under the guidance of business and economics teachers, they designed a scientific management philosophy, established clear role divisions, perfected various management processes, and obtained interest-free loan support through fundraising from four teachers, including the school principal. Shiguang Villa provides convenient amenities for students' daily academic lives. The management team continues to improve product quality, streamline purchasing procedures, and refine management systems...
Launching the Wisdom Valley Student Mock Court
The Mock Court is a unique elective course at BNDS.SJS, designed to immerse students in the world of law. It teaches practical legal knowledge, such as civil and criminal law, to raise legal awareness. Students get to role-play as judges, prosecutors, and police officers during simulated trials, gaining hands-on experience in different professions.
"Launching the Wisdom Valley Radio Station" is one of the 2024 "Ten Practical Initiatives" at our school and a highly requested project by students. After the proposal of the project, teachers and students initiated preparations for the campus radio station. Following member recruitment and broadcasting training sessions, the first program was successfully aired on September 10th during the Appreciation Day song dedication event. Subsequent broadcasts featured themes like "Exploring Beijing's Central Axis" and "Prevention of Infectious Diseases". The campus radio station is currently undergoing continuous improvements, aiming to enrich students' campus life with enhanced broadcasting quality. We interviewed Zhang Yinuo, the student station chief, who shared: "As the head of the radio station, I'm delighted to serve fellow students by amplifying their voices. Through this platform, we not only keep everyone informed about news and current affairs but also help like-minded peers hone their broadcasting skills. The radio station serves as an excellent avenue for personal growth - it enhances organizational communication abilities while providing professional knowledge exposure. I sincerely hope our radio station continues to thrive."

Expand the variety of arts, physical education, and technical courses and enrich students' curriculum options
Renovation of the Third-Floor Garden
After entering puberty, many girls encounter the embarrassing situation of unexpectedly getting their period without carrying sanitary pads. In such circumstances, girls can only seek help from classmates or female teachers. To address the urgent needs of students who forget to bring sanitary products, the school has installed mutual-aid hygiene products boxes in women's restrooms. Following the implementation of these mutual-aid boxes, the school has created a platform for female students to assist each other. When a girl uses sanitary pads from the box during an emergency situation, she will remember to replenish some supplies next time, thereby maintaining the circulation of hygiene products and helping more fellow students.
To meet students' demand for diversified arts, physical education, and technical courses, the school has newly developed over 10 such courses this semester. These include technical courses such as Lego Mechanical Structures, Mechanical Modeling & Metal Art, Handmade Textile Crafts, AI Interaction Technology and Applications, and Chinese Cuisine; sports-related courses including volleyball, table tennis, track and field, and swimming; as well as new arts courses like Theater Creation & Performance, Eloquence & Hosting, Sculpture, and Classical Poetry Singing.
Regarding the newly added courses, Zhao Zixuan shared some thoughts: "In the third academic period, the school introduced many new courses. Among technical courses, what satisfies me most is the Chinese Cuisine class. In this course, I can follow the teacher's guidance to enter a legendary culinary world." "In this class, I've learned how to fry eggs, make candied haws, and prepare steamed fish. Learning cooking has improved my life skills. After acquiring cooking abilities, I can prepare meals independently, enhancing my self-reliance and enabling me to take good care of myself even without parental support. For instance, mastering fried eggs and baked pancakes provides me with simple, quick solutions for meals. Cooking also helps relieve my academic stress. The cooking process requires concentration - stepping into the kitchen after studies to learn new skills shifts my focus from schoolwork to culinary creation, allowing me to enjoy the fun of making delicious food and relax both mentally and physically. Sharing classroom creations with friends and family brings immense happiness."
"Table tennis is my favorite course in physical education. In the table tennis class, I learned how to serve and receive the ball, transforming from a complete novice who couldn't even serve properly into an enthusiast capable of rallying for multiple rounds. This course not only introduced me to a new sport and its challenges but also ignited my passion for it. Through learning table tennis, I've not only acquired sports skills but also learned to confront difficulties – it taught me not to fear or retreat from challenges, but to face them head-on to overcome obstacles."
Originally a simple grassy area on the third floor of the building, the garden has been transformed into a multifunctional space integrating leisure, recreation, and relaxation. Guided by the goals of enhancing the educational environment, promoting green initiatives, expanding student activity areas, and elevating the school’s image, the renovation incorporated student suggestions to create this vibrant "Sky Garden."
Planning Team Discussions
On sunny days, students now enjoy chatting with friends, reading quietly, or admiring the scenic views here—a refreshing escape from their busy academic lives.
Expansion of Indoor/Outdoor Sports Facilities
The school has introduced new fitness equipment such as treadmills, stair climbers, and pull-up assist machines. Since their installation, the campus fitness culture has flourished: students enthusiastically use the facilities during breaks, runners sweat it out on treadmills, and those building upper-body strength practice pull-ups. The added convenience and diversity of exercise options have made extracurricular life healthier and more dynamic. These upgrades not only foster a vibrant fitness atmosphere but have also improved students’ athletic performance.
Launch of Wisdom Valley Campus TV Station
Wisdom Valley Campus TV captures campus life through its lens, spreading positive energy and showcasing school spirit. After over a semester of planning and preparation, the student team has completed their first project, Valley News Update (featuring frisbee competitions), and finished filming and editing their second project, a mock court program.
TV Station Workflow Insights
We interviewed Song Yu, the TV station director and producer of the first Valley News Update. He shared:
“Being part of the newly established campus TV station is an honor and a thrill. From its initial planning to official launch, I’ve deeply appreciated the importance of teamwork. We faced challenges together, solved problems collectively, and every milestone was a result of our joint efforts. Through this journey, I’ve not only gained media production skills but also forged bonds with like-minded peers.”
The TV station marks a fresh beginning. May it thrive and become a vibrant landmark of campus culture.
